Team Spotlight: Thayer McCall

This month's Team Spotlight highlights Thayer McMall, who brings 40 years of foodservice expertise to our team in Arizona. Let's get to know Thayer a little better!

Tell us a bit about yourself. How did you wind up at Elevation?

I started working with my father’s commercial rep firm, The McCall Group, Inc., in 1983 after graduating from Arizona State University. In 2014, the company merged with PowerRep Marketing Group. Four years later, in 2018, I joined Elevation Reps due to the manufacturer consolidations and have never looked back.

What do you see as the biggest challenges facing the restaurant industry today?

Unequivocally, labor!

What current trends in foodservice stand out to you?

It has to be technology and robotics. The future is coming fast.

Who are your biggest influences?

I’ve gained a lot of inspiration from my grandfather, founder of McCall Refrigerator Company, and my father, founder of the McCall Group, Inc. The Foodservice Industry is obviously part of my DNA.

What are some of your passions outside of work?

Time with my family. And fishing, mountain bike riding, and traveling. 

If you could pick three dinner guests, living or dead, who would they be?

• Pat Tillman
• My granddaughter

Who is the first person you call or text when something exciting happens?

Without a doubt, it’s my wife.

What is the one item you can’t leave home without?

Unfortunately, I don’t do very well without my iPhone.

What is at the top of your bucket list?

A train trip through Switzerland.

Where is your favorite vacation spot?

That’s an easy one, wherever I am (on vacation).
