There's nothing better than working with an Account Executive who's also a trained chef and has experience at every level of foodservice. That's why Matt Carosi is such a great addition to the Elevation Foodservice Reps team.
We sat down with Matt to get a little background on him and find out his thoughts on the future of foodservice.
Tell us about yourself and how you ended up at Elevation.
I've worked in the foodservice industry for over ten years and have a great passion for leading my clients towards the most effective equipment solutions for their business needs.
As a classically trained chef, I spent many years learning the ins and outs of commercial kitchens, developing a deep understanding of operations. After leaving the kitchen, I focused on design layout and sales, helping my clients to implement food-service solutions specifically tailored to their equipment needs.
After working on the dealer and distribution side of the foodservice business, I’ve been aware of the wonderful things happening at Elevation and was more than eager to join the team.
What do you see as the biggest challenge for foodservice operators today?
I believe that labor issues will continue to be a challenge for the foodservice industry for the next several years until automation and AI help to ease the shortage.
Why do you feel the foodservice industry is so important?
The foodservice industry is a huge part of the American economy. It provides young people with their very first job opportunities and can instill a lifetime of respect for food production, nutrition, and culture. I feel very fortunate to have worked at just about every level of the industry over the span of my career, and I hope to continue learning.
Do you have a favorite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant, as of late, has consistently been Hillstone. Their food quality, warm and welcoming service approach, and inviting atmosphere always have me coming back for more. The restaurant group is extremely well run, as meticulous details clearly matter to all employees. They clearly take pride in what they do, and that translates to the overall guest experience.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I enjoy staying active outside of work by hiking, running, biking, and weight training. Love to dine out with friends and explore new bar and restaurant concepts. I’m also an avid sports fan and enjoy supporting both my hometown team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and my adopted sports teams, the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Cardinals.
One last question: what's the thing you never leave your house without?
I can't leave the house without my water bottle and sunglasses in Arizona!
